Assessment Reasoning
The announcement introduces a new capability for Dynamics 365 Commerce, enabling on-behalf-of ordering with Microsoft Entra External ID. No immediate action is required, and the change primarily increases awareness for admins managing B2B scenarios. User-facing impact is indirect as it enhances process options rather than changing existing workflows. Urgency and effort are low since adoption is optional and does not require configuration unless organisations plan to leverage the feature.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement

Dynamics 365 Commerce – On-behalf-of support now available in Microsoft Entra External ID
Message ID: MC1453678
We are announcing the ability to enable on-behalf-of ordering for Microsoft Entra External ID (EEID) in Dynamics 365 Commerce. This feature will reach general availability on September 11, 2026

How does this affect me?
On-behalf-of (OBO) ordering with Microsoft Entra External ID (EEID) is a foundational B2B commerce capability that allows customer service representatives, distributors, and sales agents to place orders on behalf of customers, a common requirement in complex B2B purchasing scenarios. It also enables new B2B customers to migrate to EEID without losing critical, sales-assisted ordering capabilities while preserving support for distributor-led, contact center, and agent-assisted ordering scenarios.

What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.
