Assessment Reasoning
The feature introduces a new export report for agent usage metrics visible in the Microsoft 365 admin center. There is no change to user workflow or permissions, and action before rollout is not required. Admins may need to review access, run exports for licensing oversight and handle compliance of data retention, but the operational change is limited to awareness and optional reporting use.

Microsoft Agent 365: Active Users export for agent usage reporting
Message ID: MC1462914

[What and Why:]

We’re introducing a new reporting capability in Microsoft Agent 365 that enables AI Admins and Global Admins to export an inventory of users who have actively used agents registered in their tenant’s Agent 365 Registry during the previous 30 days.

This report provides visibility into agent usage and can help organizations support agent licensing reviews and planning activities.

[Rollout Schedule:]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Rolling out in late August 2026 and expected to complete by late August 2026.

[Impact on Your Organization:]

Who is affected

  • AI Admins
  • Global Admins

Platforms and services

  • Microsoft 365 admin center
  • Microsoft Agent 365

What will happen

A new Active Users export option will be available in:

Microsoft 365 admin center > Agents > All Agents > Export

Authorized administrators will be able to generate a CSV report containing users who have used an agent represented in the tenant’s Agent 365 Registry during the previous 30 days.

The report includes:

  • User Principal Name (UPN)
  • Total Agents Used
  • Total Sessions
  • Last Activity Date

This is a read-only reporting capability.

There are no changes to:

  • Existing agents
  • User permissions
  • Billing processes

The feature will be enabled by default for AI Admins and Global Admins who already have access to Agent 365.

[Action Required / Recommendations:]

No action is required to prepare for this change.

After rollout, you may want to:

  • Identify the individuals responsible for agent licensing decisions and ensure they have the appropriate administrative access.
  • Review exported usage data to better understand agent adoption across your organization.
  • Use the report to support internal licensing reviews and planning discussions.

[Compliance Considerations:]

The feature introduces a new administrative reporting capability that exposes existing usage information for agent activity. The export includes user identifiers (UPN) and usage metrics for the previous 30 days. Organizations should review their internal policies regarding access to usage reporting data and retention of exported reports.
