Assessment Reasoning
This update restricts Basic User role visibility of Dataverse custom connector definitions that are not owned or shared, requiring admins to review access models. Admins may need to adjust security roles or share individual connectors to maintain access for affected users. The change is configuration-focused with moderate planning and communication impact. End users are only indirectly affected through potential loss of access to connector definitions.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement
Microsoft Dataverse – Custom connector definition access update
Message ID: MC1527468
Beginning October 15, 2026, users assigned the Dataverse Basic User security role lose access to custom connector definitions they do not own or that have not been explicitly shared with them.
How does this affect me?
Users who rely on this access may no longer be able to view the affected connector definitions. This update makes no change to connector functionality.
What action do I need to take?
If users require continued access to custom connector definitions, take one of the following actions:
- Share specific connectors with the users who need access, which is recommended when only a small number of connectors are required.
- Create a custom security role that grants organization-level Read access to the Connector table and assign it to the relevant users to provide read access to all custom connectors in the environment.
This message is for awareness. No action is required unless users need continued access to custom connector definitions.
