Assessment Reasoning
This is a planned improvement to Microsoft Authenticator on Android, introducing clearer backup and restore guidance similar to iOS. It does not alter admin controls or require configuration, but admins may wish to inform users about the new flow and Google One backup requirement. The change mainly affects end-user setup experience and has low operational urgency before the 2027 rollout window.

[What and why]

We’re improving the backup and restore experience in Microsoft Authenticator for Android. When setting up Authenticator on a new device, users will receive guidance tailored to whether they still have access to their previous device.
