The Microsoft Purview compliance portal is being updated to introduce a new schema to track Power Apps and Power Platform Connector activities. Beginning in October 2024, both activities will start being logged under the PowerPlatformAdministratorActivity activity type.
How does this affect me?
Power Apps and Power Platform Connector activities will continue to be logged under both the new and current activity types until December 2024. Beginning in January 2025, these activities will only be logged under the new activity type. Any automation that is currently ingesting audit logs from PowerAppsApp and PowerAppsResource activity types will no longer work in January 2025.
What action do I need to take?
Please update any internal systems that utilize the current activity types to the new PowerPlatformAdministratorActivity type to avoid any disruption to your service. Please review the Power Apps activity logging documentation for more information on this new schema.
Additionally, we recommend that customers using Microsoft Sentinel update to the latest Microsoft Sentinel solution for the Microsoft Power Platform. For additional information, please refer to this documentation: Sentinel solution for Microsoft Power Platform overview.

The upcoming Microsoft Purview update is bringing some changes that will impact admins and users who work with Power Apps and Power Platform Connector activities. These updates will streamline the tracking process by introducing a new schema called PowerPlatformAdministratorActivity.
For admins and users, this means that starting in October 2024, both current and new activity types will be logged. However, by January 2025, only the new activity type will be used, which may affect any current automation systems that rely on the old activity types. To avoid disruptions, it’s essential to update internal systems to adapt to the new schema before January 2025.
If you’re wondering what steps you need to take, it’s crucial to review the Power Apps activity logging documentation provided by Microsoft for a better understanding of the new schema. Additionally, Microsoft recommends that customers using Microsoft Sentinel should update to the latest Microsoft Sentinel solution for the Microsoft Power Platform.
So, buckle up, tech enthusiasts! These changes are coming, and it’s time to ensure a smooth transition to avoid any service interruptions. Make sure to update your systems, stay informed, and embrace the technological evolution ahead. Let’s adapt and thrive together! Share your thoughts below and let’s spark a conversation about these exciting updates.
