Coming soon to the new Microsoft Outlook for Windows desktop: In the Notification settings, users will be able to add a custom sound for new mail notifications, mail reactions, and Calendar notifications (also known as Calendar reminders).
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 491019.

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): We will begin rolling out late June and expect to complete by late July 2025.
[How this will affect your organization:]
The setting will be available by default. Users can find the three new options in Outlook Settings.
1. For new mail notifications: Settings > General > Notifications > Mail > New mail > Play sound:

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.
