As of April 30, 2026, the default system backup retention period for Power Platform environments is 7 days.
How does this affect me?
System backups are automatically created for environments that have a database with a default backup retention period of 7 days. Admins can enable Managed Environments and extend the retention period to 28 days using PowerShell. All Dynamics 365 & Power Platform licenses that allow you to create an environment in production with Dataverse qualifies for Managed Environment.
What action do I need to take?
To extend the default system backup retention period for your Power Platform environments, please enable Managed Environments.
If you would like more information on this feature, please visit Back up and restore environments and Managed Environments.
