SharePoint Pages: Updates to the Toolbox within the Content pane [MC1326507]

Message ID: MC1326507

[Introduction]

We are updating the page editing experience in SharePoint Online by reorganizing the content pane toolbox used when creating or editing pages and news posts. This change allows users to see all web parts on opening the toolbox and separates stock images, videos and recently used images into dedicated tabs within the toolbox. Section templates are moved to a separate tab.

[When this will happen:]

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): Rollout will begin in late May 2026 and is expected to complete by late June 2026.

[How this affects your organization:]

Who is affected:

  • All users who create or edit pages and news posts in SharePoint Online.

What will happen:

  • When opening the content pane toolbox, all available web parts are visible by default, with no extra navigation required.
  • The content pane has additional tabs for Stock images, Videos, and Recently used.
  • Section templates are moved to a separate tab.
  • Tabs group content by category, so you can easily switch between content types.

  • Existing pages are not affected.
  • This update is enabled by default and does not introduce new admin controls.
