Assessment Reasoning
This is a new capability for subscription billing in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. Admins may need to review feature settings in Feature management and assess how it integrates with current invoicing and reporting processes. Users will see minimal direct change as most impact relates to financial processes and setup rather than day-to-day collaboration. No urgent action is needed as this is optional, but planning may be required for organisations using subscription billing.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement
Dynamics 365 Project Operations – Enable project fee journals to support subscription billing
Message ID: MC1452771 (Updated)
We are announcing the ability to support subscription billing through project fee journal functionality for production and stocked deployment scenarios in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This feature will reach general availability on September 11, 2026.
How does this affect me?
Dynamics 365 Project Operations for manufacturing now supports subscription billing through the project fee journal functionality. This allows organizations to streamline revenue recognition, improve billing accuracy, and deliver a more cohesive customer experience. When project invoices are issued at a later stage, the system automatically records accrual transactions to support accurate financial reporting and compliance with revenue recognition principles.
With this feature enabled, you can:
- Create subscription billing schedules linked to projects.
- Set-up fee-type subscription billing lines.
- Automatically generate fee journals and project invoice proposals during the invoicing process.
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.
To utilize this feature, please enable the Enable project fee journals to support subscription billing for Project Operations stocked scenarios feature in Feature management.
If you would like more information about this feature, please review Use billing schedules with projects by using fee transactions article.
