Assessment Reasoning
This is a new optional feature entering public preview and does not require immediate action. Admin impact is moderate since finance or project operations teams may want to review posting behaviour and plan communications to relevant users. User impact remains low because the change affects back-end transaction flow for project and procurement scenarios, not primary user interfaces. Urgency is low as there is no enforcement or deadline; effort is mainly review and potential adoption planning.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement

Dynamics 365 Project Operations – Unify product receipt and item requirement posting
Message ID: MC1462642
We are announcing the ability to unify product receipt and item requirement posting in Dynamics 365 Project Operations. This feature will reach public preview on September 11, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature posts a purchase order product receipt and the consumption of its linked project item requirement in one transaction. It applies when automatic item consumption is enabled or when you select “Consume immediately” while posting the product receipt. Both updates succeed together, or the system rolls them both back when an error occurs. The posting flow prevents duplicate project posting and preserves existing behavior for batch posting and cancellation or correction flows. This combined posting can only be triggered from the product receipt posting.

This feature applies to the Project Operations Integrated with ERP and Project Operations for manufacturing deployment types.

What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.
