Assessment Reasoning
The rollout schedule has been pushed from late September to mid-November 2026, indicating a date change rather than a functional update. The feature extends existing DLP protections to mobile calendar events, affecting compliance enforcement but requiring no admin work beyond reviewing current policies. User impact is moderate since policy tips and enforcement appear in mobile clients, and urgency is moderate as preparation is minimal and timing allows comfortable planning.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement

(Updated) [Outlook Mobile] Purview Data Loss Prevention support for Calendar Events
Message ID: MC1472023 (Updated)

Updated October 6, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

[What and why:]

Outlook for iOS and Android will support Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention \(DLP\) policies for calendar events. Organizations can detect and help prevent the sharing of sensitive information in meeting subjects, descriptions, and invite content through policy tips, user remediation, and policy enforcement. This provides consistent compliance protection across email and calendar experiences on mobile devices.

[Rollout schedule:]

General Availability (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out mid-November 2026 (previously late September) and expect to complete by mid-November 2026 (previously late September).

[Impact on your organization:]

This feature helps organizations extend Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention protections to calendar events created from Outlook for iOS and Android. Users receive policy guidance before sending meeting invitations that contain sensitive information, helping reduce accidental data exposure and improve compliance. Organizations benefit from more consistent protection across email and calendar workflows while supporting regulatory and corporate data protection requirements.

[Action required / Recommendations:]

No administrator action is required to prepare for this feature. Existing Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention policies will automatically apply to supported calendar events in Outlook for iOS and Android. Organizations with DLP policies already configured can benefit from expanded protection of calendar content without additional policy creation or client configuration. Administrators may choose to review existing DLP policies to ensure they align with their organization’s compliance requirements.
