(Updated) Microsoft Teams: Video sharing from OneDrive in Teams events
Message ID: MC1506734 (Updated)

Updated October 15, 2026: We have updated the timeline. If you are a tenant in a GCCH or DoD environment, you can safely ignore this message as you are not impacted. Thank you for your patience.

[What and why]

Microsoft Teams will soon support sharing video directly from OneDrive during Teams events. Organizers and producers using Manage what attendees see can load videos from OneDrive and present them on stage without screen sharing a local media player or embedding videos in PowerPoint. This improvement provides smoother, higher-quality video playback for attendees and simplifies event production through built-in video playback controls.

[Rollout schedule]

  • Targeted Release (Worldwide): Rollout will begin in early November 2026 and end in early December 2026.
  • General Availability (Worldwide, GCC): Rollout will begin in early December 2026 and is expected to complete by early December 2026.
