Assessment Reasoning
The update expands access to Agent 365 usage and activity insights for Microsoft and Microsoft platform‑built agents, improving visibility without changing licensing requirements. Admins will need to review new data views and adjust monitoring or reporting baselines as metrics populate. This is primarily operational with no direct user impact, moderate configuration review, and planning needed ahead of rollout completion in November 2026.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement

Microsoft Agent 365: Expanded access to Microsoft agent usage and activity insights in Microsoft 365 admin center
Message ID: MC1506727 (Updated)

Updated October 19, 2026: We have updated the content. Thank you for your patience.

[What and why]

Starting in late October 2026, Microsoft is expanding access to Agent 365 usage and activity insights in the Microsoft Admin Center for Microsoft pre-built agents and agents built on Microsoft platforms. This change expands access to the agent overview, active users, advanced usage (activity, sessions, exception rate, run time), regardless of Agent 365 licensing status, regardless of Agent 365 licensing status, giving administrators foundational visibility into agent usage and activity and helping them understand where additional management, governance, and security capabilities may be needed.

This change is limited to some management metrics for agents built by Microsoft or built on Microsoft Platforms, not inclusive of agents built on 3rd party platforms. Agent 365 or ME7 licensing continues to provide access to the broader set of Agent 365 management, governance, security, and business value capabilities, enabling organizations to go beyond foundational visibility to more deeply manage and protect their agent environment.

[Rollout schedule]

  • General Availability (Worldwide): Beginning in late October 2026 and expected to complete by late November 2026

[Impact on your organization]

Who is affected

  • Organizations using supported agents built by Microsoft or built on Microsoft platforms

Platforms and services

  • Microsoft 365 admin center
  • Agent 365 management

What will happen

  • Administrators will have expanded access to Agent 365 usage and activity insights for supported agents built by Microsoft or on Microsoft platforms, including agent overview, active users, activity, sessions, exception rate, and run time.
    • In Registry, the affected usage and activity columns are Active users, Total sessions, Exception rate, and Run Time.
    • In Agent overview, affected cards and charts include Active users, Active users over time, and Trending agents by active users. These views may already be visible in organizations without an Agent 365 license. Reported values and trends may change temporarily as activity data accumulates during rollout.
    • In Agent details > Activity, affected metrics include the Active users, Sessions, Exceptions, and Agent run-time cards, and the Active users over time and Sessions over time charts.
  • The change applies to both existing and new agents.
  • As this change reaches your organization, some metrics or trends may initially appear incomplete while activity data accumulates. Allow up to 30 days after data collection begins for a full 30-day reporting view. Lower displayed values during this period do not necessarily indicate a decline in agent usage
  • Data availability continues to depend on the agent or platform sending activity data and on applicable observability settings.
  • Existing licensing and access requirements for the full value of observability metrics, including risk-related features will continue to require a paid A365 or ME7 license.

Action required and recommendations

Review the expanded usage and activity insights in Microsoft 365 admin center to better understand agent usage and activity across your organization.

When comparing usage before and after rollout, account for the time required to collect a full reporting window. Lower displayed values during rollout may reflect incomplete activity history rather than a decline in usage.
