Assessment Reasoning
This is an active change to Power Platform security behaviour. Admins must review Dataverse Basic User access and potentially create new roles to retain necessary connector visibility. Makers may notice access changes when reading custom connector definitions. The update primarily affects security configuration and environment management, requiring moderate planning and documentation updates before enforcement in October 2026.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement
Power Platform – Update for read access to custom connector definitions for Basic User role
Message ID: MC1520706
In October 2026, we are updating read access for custom connector definitions in Power Platform. Users assigned the Dataverse Basic User security role will no longer be able to read solution custom connector definitions unless the connector is owned by that user or explicitly shared with them.
What action do I need to take?
Please take the actions listed below:
- Review environments where users with the Basic User role need to read custom connector definitions.
- Create and assign a custom security role with organization-level Read permission on the Connector table when users need access to all custom connectors in an environment.
- Update internal maker and admin guidance to reflect the new access model.
This update improves security by limiting access to connector definitions and configuration details that were not intentionally shared.
