Microsoft Teams Mobile (iOS and Android) will soon allow users to customize and select different sounds for various types of calls, helping you better manage your alerts and distinguish between different incoming communications. For users with Microsoft Teams Phone, this also includes calls for forwarded and delegated calls. Users can find these settings under Teams Settings > Calling > Choose a ringtone. The ringtone is set on a per-device basis, meaning the ringtone a user selects will apply only to that specific device. This also includes support for a new tone, “Beep” which will play a beep sound every 5 seconds for the duration of the call ringing.

The recent update to Microsoft Teams Mobile, allowing users to set custom ringtones for calls, is a delightful change that promises to enhance the user experience significantly. For both admins and users, this feature brings a touch of personalization and improved communication management.
From the user perspective, the ability to choose different sounds for various types of calls is like being handed the keys to a musical symphony. No longer will you be caught off guard by a generic ringtone that sounds like a cat in distress! Instead, users can select tones that resonate with their personal style, making it easier to distinguish between different communications—be it a work call, a forwarded message, or a friendly nudge from a colleague. The inclusion of the new “Beep” tone adds a fun twist, ensuring that even while you’re waiting for a call to connect, it sounds like you’re at a lively party!
For admins, this update is an opportunity to enhance user training and documentation. As ringtones are set on a per-device basis, admins might need to provide guidance on how to navigate the settings effectively. It’s a chance to engage with users and perhaps even host a little “Ringtone Showdown” where everyone can share their quirky choices. Who knows, it could become a fun team-building exercise!
In terms of impact, the changes are expected to be quite significant. They not only allow for better personal management of alerts but also contribute to a more enjoyable work atmosphere. After all, a happy user is a productive user!
So, what do you think about these new ringtones? Will you be going for something classic or a bit more avant-garde?
