Assessment Reasoning
This feature introduces configurable security alert thresholds in Edge management, improving notification relevance. While no action is required by default, admins who want customised alerts will need to review settings. User impact is minimal as the change is admin-facing, and urgency is moderate since the rollout is near completion but configuration is optional.

📢 Official Microsoft Message Center Announcement

Microsoft Edge: Security Update Alerts in the Edge management service
Message ID: MC1458480

[What and Why:]

Administrators can now choose a severity threshold and receive alerts when a new Edge update includes security fixes that meet or exceed that threshold, including zero-day fixes. This helps organizations quickly identify updates that may require attention, while avoiding unnecessary notifications for routine releases.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 558435

[Rollout schedule:]

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out on early August 2026 and expect to complete by mid-August 2026.

[Impact on your organization:]

No action will be taken on behalf of the administrator. By default, the existing experience that notifies admins of all new Edge updates will remain. Admins can now choose to specify when they would like to receive new update notifications.

[Action required / Recommendations:]

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout.
