Assessment Reasoning
Microsoft will enforce the existing cross-region data movement setting from 15 November 2026 for environments using generative AI or Copilot features in Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. Admins must verify and enable the option in each affected environment or those features may stop functioning. This requires tenant-level review and configuration, with indirect but noticeable user effects if AI features become unavailable.

Dynamics 365 apps and Power Platform – Enable cross-region data movement
Message ID: MC1536836
We identified environments in your tenant that use generative AI features requiring cross-region processing. Beginning on November 15, 2026, we are enforcing the existing “Move data across region” setting for environments using affected Copilot and generative AI features.

What action do I need to take?
Please perform the following actions:
  1. Open Power Platform admin center > Manage > Environments.
  2. Select the environment, then select Generative AI features > Edit.
  3. Review the terms, select Move data across regions, and select Save.
No additional action is required for environments where the “Move data across region” setting is already enabled. Before enabling the setting, review the processing destinations and applicable data residency requirements at this link.

Why is this action needed?
To use Copilot and generative AI features that require cross-region processing, the existing “Move data across regions” setting must be enabled for the environment. Affected features may become unavailable if the setting remains disabled.

For more information about this setting, please visit Move data across regions for Copilots, AI agents, and generative AI features.
