Introduction
To improve consistency and quality across Microsoft 365 writing experiences, Microsoft will retire the Editor Pane in PowerPoint for the Web. This pane, previously available as a preview feature, offered grammar and style suggestions. However, it no longer meets the standards for intelligent writing assistance and will be removed. Users can continue to rely on built-in spell check and Copilot in PowerPoint for enhanced writing support.

The Editor Pane will be retired and removed from PowerPoint for the Web in January 2026.

- Who is affected: All users of PowerPoint for the Web who currently use the Editor Pane for writing suggestions.

  - The Editor Pane will no longer be available after January 2026.
- Built-in spell check will remain available and active by default.
- Copilot in PowerPoint offers enhanced writing support, including context-aware suggestions and natural language prompts.
- No admin configuration changes are required.

- No action is required.
- Admins may wish to:
  - Inform helpdesk and support teams of the retirement to avoid confusion.
- Update internal documentation if it references the Editor Pane.
- Encourage users to explore Copilot in PowerPoint for advanced writing assistance.
