Due to recent infrastructure updates, some Copilot features in environments based in Australia, India, and the United Kingdom may now process data outside of those regions. Please refer to this documentation for more information about which regions this data is processed in: Regions involved with copilots and generative AI features.
As a result, we are re-introducing the Move Data Across Regions setting in the Power Platform admin center. This feature will be made available in Australia, India, and the United Kingdom starting on December 2, 2024, and fully available by December 12, 2024, and will allow admins in these regions to opt out of this data movement.
How does this affect me?
This update will allow admins to opt out of the ability of Copilot features in environments based in Australia, India, and the United Kingdom to process data outside of those regions.
What do I need to do to prepare?
This message is for awareness and no action is required. If you want to disable generative AI features and copilots in your environments, you can do so after December 12, 2024, by following the steps in this documentation: Turn on copilots and generative AI features.

The Power Platform is rolling out a nifty new feature that will have admins and users alike buzzing with excitement—or at least mild curiosity. Starting December 2, 2024, the “Move Data Across Regions” setting will be available in Australia, India, and the United Kingdom. By December 12, 2024, it will be fully operational, allowing admins in these regions to opt out of having their Copilot features process data outside their home turf.
So, what’s the big deal? Well, imagine you’re an admin in Australia, and you suddenly realize that your data is taking a world tour without your permission. Not cool, right? This update gives you the power to keep your data closer to home, ensuring that it doesn’t end up gallivanting around the globe. It’s like putting a leash on your data—except way less weird.
For users, this means a bit more peace of mind. Knowing that your data isn’t being processed in some far-off land can be a comforting thought. Plus, it gives admins a bit more control over their environments, which is always a good thing. After all, who doesn’t like having options?
Now, before you start panicking about what you need to do to prepare, take a deep breath. This message is primarily for awareness. No immediate action is required on your part. However, if you’re feeling particularly proactive and want to disable generative AI features and copilots in your environments, you can do so after December 12, 2024. Just follow the steps in the provided documentation, and you’ll be good to go.
In summary, this update is all about giving admins more control and users more peace of mind. It’s a win-win situation! So, what do you think? Are you excited about this new feature, or do you have concerns? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Let’s get the conversation started.
