Microsoft Teams: Resize Teams windows [MC947051]

Message ID: MC947051

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Users will be able to reduce the main Teams window, the chat window, and the meeting stage to 360px wide or 502px wide, compared to the current minimum supported dimensions of 720px wide, with no loss of functionality. We will bring this change to the rest of Teams when we release in General Availability.

Also, users can adjust the width of Teams side panels as desired.

This update enhances accessibility, creates new multitasking opportunities, supports efficient window management on Windows 11 and macOS desktops, and offers greater zooming capabilities for low-vision users when scrolling in one dimension.

This message applies to Teams on Windows desktop and Teams on Mac desktop.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 470431.

The upcoming update to Microsoft Teams is set to bring a wave of positive changes for both admins and users alike. With the ability to resize the main Teams window, chat window, and meeting stage down to 360px wide, we can expect a more flexible and user-friendly experience. This means that instead of feeling like we’re crammed into a virtual box, we can now spread our digital wings a little wider—or perhaps even a little narrower, depending on our multitasking needs!

For users, this update enhances accessibility and opens up new multitasking opportunities. Imagine being able to have your Teams window side by side with your favorite productivity app without needing to squint or scroll endlessly. Plus, for those who may benefit from greater zooming capabilities, this update is a real game-changer. It’s like giving our screens a much-needed makeover, allowing for a more comfortable viewing experience.

Admins, on the other hand, will appreciate the ease of implementation. The update will roll out automatically, requiring no extra action on their part. This means less time spent on managing settings and more time focusing on strategic initiatives. It’s a win-win situation, really. Just remember to give your users a heads-up about the change and maybe even update some documentation—your future self will thank you!

As we look forward to this update in January 2025, it’s clear that the impact will be significant. The ability to customize window sizes not only supports better workflow but also encourages a more inclusive environment for all users. So, let’s embrace the change and look forward to a more adaptable Teams experience!

What do you think about this upcoming update? Will it make a difference in your daily workflow? I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to share in the comments below! And for more insights, don’t forget to check out other posts at mwpro.co.uk.
