AI Builder – Announcing the public preview version 4.0 of AI Builder document processing [MC1003969]

Message ID: MC1003969

Starting February 11, 2025, the version 4.0 preview of the document processing model will be available to try. This version offers better accuracy for character detection, table extraction and introduce confidence scores for tables.

How does this affect me?
When creating a new document processing model via the tile, "Extract custom information from documents" or editing an existing one, you will be able to try this new preview version by switching on the toggle Try the new model version (Preview). The new preview version of the document processing model can be applied to models created for Fixed template documents or General documents. If you do not want to try the preview version of the model, you can leave the preview toggle off (default behavior).

Please note that switching a model to the preview version will keep all the labels on your training documents, although it will require retraining of the model.

We recommend trying the preview version on test models, not on production models.

What action do I need to take?

The announcement of AI Builder’s public preview version 4.0 for document processing is indeed exciting news! Starting February 11, 2025, both admins and users will experience some noteworthy changes that promise to enhance the document processing experience.

For admins, the improved accuracy in character detection and table extraction means less time spent on manual corrections and a more streamlined workflow. The introduction of confidence scores for tables adds a layer of reliability, allowing admins to make informed decisions about the data being processed. However, it’s important to remember that while the new features are enticing, they will require retraining of existing models. So, a bit of preparation will be necessary to ensure a smooth transition.

Users will also benefit significantly from this update. The enhanced accuracy means that the documents they rely on will be processed with greater precision, reducing the likelihood of errors. Plus, having the option to toggle the preview version on or off provides flexibility—perfect for those who like to live on the edge (or just want to keep things stable in production).

As for the impact of these changes, it seems poised to be quite positive. The potential for improved efficiency and accuracy can lead to better productivity across the board. Just think of it as upgrading from a bicycle to a sports car—sure, both get you from point A to point B, but one does it with a lot more style and speed!

I encourage everyone to share their thoughts and experiences regarding the new features. Have you tried the preview version? What are your expectations? Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other navigate these exciting changes! For more insights and updates, feel free to check out other posts at mwpro.co.uk.
