Advanced Insights – Copilot Headlines Report [MC1048622]

Message ID: MC1048622

A new report for analysts in Advanced Insights will automatically scan for groups with unexpected or changing Copilot usage, as well as changes to collaboration.

This change is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID: 408543

[When this will happen:]

Public Preview: We will begin rolling out mid-April 2024 and expect to complete by April 2025.

[How this will affect your organization:]

  • Analysts will see a new Copilot Headlines report in their Advanced Insights report template library.
  • Opening the report will give the analyst ranked insights about unexpected Copilot usage across groups based on the Organization attribute. Analysts can run a customized version of the report to use alternative attributes to define the groups. The report will also provide insights about other unexpected behavioral metric changes in these groups.
  • In addition to looking for large changes over time, the report looks for groups that are significantly different than “similar employees”. This leverages a new dynamic internal benchmark that uses role-based norms assessed over the company’s entire measured population to estimate an expected metric value for any group.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

By default, this report will be enabled for all Insights Analyst users. Note that the dynamic internal benchmarks that are used to assess expected behavior are calculated based on the global partition of measured users, and as a result, analysts may be able to infer global role-based norms from these benchmarks. These global role-based norms are protected by a minimum group size of 25.

If for any reason you prefer that analysts in non-global partitions not have access to internal benchmarks, a global admin or Viva Insights admin can disable this report for all analysts in non-global partitions by using Viva Insights Feature Access Management (VFAM) to disable the feature. When the feature is disabled using VFAM, analysts in the global partition will still have access to the report, but analysts in non-global partitions will not.

The upcoming rollout of the Copilot Headlines Report in Advanced Insights is set to shake things up for both admins and users in a way that’s as exciting as a surprise Friday afternoon treat! This new feature is designed to give analysts a clearer view of Copilot usage patterns and collaboration changes, potentially making our workplace dynamics a bit more transparent.

For admins, the introduction of this report means an enhanced ability to monitor and understand team behaviors. With insights into unexpected Copilot usage and collaboration shifts, admins can make data-driven decisions that foster better teamwork and productivity. The dynamic internal benchmarks will serve as a handy reference, allowing for comparisons that can identify both outliers and best practices across the organization. Just think of it as having a crystal ball, but one that’s backed by data rather than fairy dust!

On the user side, analysts will benefit from the ability to customize reports based on various attributes—providing a tailored approach to understanding how different groups are interacting with Copilot. This can lead to more effective use of resources and tools, ultimately enhancing the user experience. However, it’s important to note that if your organization prefers to keep things under wraps, admins have the option to disable the report for non-global partitions. So, there’s flexibility to suit different organizational needs!

As we prepare for the public preview starting in mid-April 2024, it’s worth considering how these changes will impact our daily workflows. Will we see a boost in collaboration? A deeper understanding of tool usage? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: it’s bound to be interesting!

I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this update. How do you think it will impact your role or your team’s dynamics? Let’s get the conversation rolling! For more insights and discussions, don’t forget to check out additional posts at mwpro.co.uk.
