Teams Meetings Copilot response can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel) [MC1053653]

Message ID: MC1053653

Microsoft 365 Copilot responses in Microsoft Teams meetings can be shared to external apps (Word or Excel). Responses generated by Copilot in Meetings will come with a button to Open in another app. Although this will start with Word and Excel, more apps will be added in the future.

The Open in button will show up when:

  • A response has more than the set number of characters (1,300), which will make it long enough to warrant editing in a document. Shorter responses can always be copied/pasted anywhere outside of Teams, as long as the meeting policy allows.
  • A response has a table, which will allow it to be exported to Excel if the meeting policy allows.
  • Responses will only be able to be exported if the meeting policy allows copying or exporting of Copilot responses and will respect the sensitivity label of the meeting (sensitivity labels are available to Teams Premium customers).

This update is certainly a game-changer for both admins and users! With Microsoft 365 Copilot’s ability to share responses from Teams meetings directly to external applications like Word and Excel, we can expect a smoother workflow and enhanced productivity.

For users, this means no more tedious copying and pasting of lengthy responses. Instead, they can simply click the “Open in” button and seamlessly transition their insights into a document or spreadsheet. This feature not only saves time but also encourages users to engage more actively during meetings, knowing they can easily edit and refine their contributions afterward. Plus, who doesn’t love a little extra time to polish their work?

Admins, on the other hand, will appreciate the minimal effort required for this rollout. With the update happening automatically and no additional actions needed, it frees up time for them to focus on other important tasks. However, it’s still wise for them to communicate these changes to users and update documentation to ensure everyone is on the same page. After all, a well-informed team is a happy team!

The impact of these changes could be significant, especially in collaborative environments where information sharing is crucial. By making it easier to transfer data from meetings to documents, we can expect to see an increase in productivity and collaboration across the board.

Now, let’s keep the conversation going! What do you think about this update? How do you see it impacting your workflow? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below! For more insights and updates, check out other posts on mwpro.co.uk.
