AI Builder – Document processing in AI Builder announcement [MC1056943]

Message ID: MC1056943

We are announcing that the new document processing model (Built on Azure Document Intelligence 4.0) will be Generally Available (GA) in AI Builder beginning April 21, 2025.

How does this affect me?
Document processing in AI Builder improves data extraction accuracy with the latest Optical Character Recognition (OCR) enhancements that effectively handle complex text features, such as barcodes, QR codes, and watermarks. When creating or re-training a custom document processing model, using the Fixed template documents, General documents, and Invoices document types, AI Builder will explicitly use the new document processing.

The pricing remains the same when using the latest or new document processing models. Please refer to the AI Builder rate card in the Power Platform Licensing Guide.

Please note that as part of this change, the option to select "Try the new model version (Preview)" will be removed.

What action do I need to take?

The announcement of the new document processing model in AI Builder, set to go live on April 21, 2025, is an exciting development for both administrators and users alike! With enhancements in Optical Character Recognition (OCR), this update promises to significantly improve data extraction accuracy, especially when dealing with complex text features like barcodes, QR codes, and even those pesky watermarks that often complicate document processing.

For admins, this means a more streamlined experience when creating or retraining custom document processing models. The new model will utilize Fixed template documents, General documents, and Invoices document types, making it easier to manage and deploy these updates within their organizations. Plus, the consistent pricing structure means there won’t be any surprises in the budget – a true win for financial planning!

Users will benefit from the enhanced accuracy and efficiency, leading to less time spent on manual corrections and more time focusing on what really matters – their core tasks and responsibilities. It’s like upgrading from a bicycle to a sports car; the ride just gets smoother and faster!

While the removal of the “Try the new model version (Preview)” option might cause a few raised eyebrows, it ultimately reflects a commitment to providing a reliable and refined tool that users can trust. After all, who wants to be a beta tester when you can have the full package?

Overall, the impact of these changes is likely to be quite significant, fostering a more productive environment for everyone involved. It’s a step forward in leveraging AI to enhance productivity and accuracy, and who wouldn’t want that?

I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this update! How do you think it will affect your workflow? Will you be looking forward to the new features? Let’s get the conversation rolling! For more insights and updates, don’t forget to check out additional posts on mwpro.co.uk.
