Message ID: MC1064340

We are announcing the Use Microsoft Teams chat as knowledge sources feature for Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature allows agents to utilize data in Teams, such as chat history, meeting transcripts, shared files, and channel communications, as a knowledge source. This feature will reach general availability on May 13, 2025.

How does this affect me?
With this update, makers can allow agents to use Teams knowledge sources as a URL endpoint or through a data source selector. When asked a question by the agent user, the agent will respond with information gathered from message threads in Teams. The availability of the chats and information available depends on the maker and end user’s access to the chats, channels, or meetings that have been specified as the source.

What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness and no action is required.

The introduction of the “Use Microsoft Teams chat as knowledge sources” feature for Microsoft Copilot Studio is set to be a game changer for both admins and users alike. As we approach its general availability on May 13, 2025, it’s important to consider how this update will shape our daily interactions with Teams.

For admins, this feature provides an exciting opportunity to enhance productivity and streamline workflows. By allowing agents to tap into chat histories, meeting transcripts, and shared files, the potential for informed decision-making is significantly boosted. Imagine the time saved when agents can access relevant information directly from their conversations rather than sifting through endless threads! However, with great power comes great responsibility. Admins will need to ensure that access to these knowledge sources is managed appropriately, maintaining the balance between efficiency and data security.

On the user side, the implications are equally promising. Users will benefit from more contextual and accurate responses from agents, making their interactions feel more dynamic and tailored. No more guessing games or hunting for information across multiple platforms! The ability to pull insights from past conversations can transform the way we collaborate and solve problems. Plus, who doesn’t love a little bit of AI magic to lighten the load?

In terms of impact, this change could be monumental. It encourages a more integrated approach to knowledge management within Teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and information sharing. The accessibility of chat data will likely lead to quicker resolutions and a more engaged workforce.
