The Teams Video Clips recording limit is increasing from 1 minute to 5 minutes so that users can share longer asynchronous video messages with their teammates.
[When this will happen:]
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out by late May 2025 and expect to complete by late June 2025.
General Availability (GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2025 and expect to complete by mid-August 2025.
[How this will affect your organization:]
Users will now be able to record Teams Video Clips up to 5 minutes long.
[What you need to do to prepare:]
This rollout will happen automatically with no admin action required. Tenants who have already disabled Teams Video Clips won’t have any impact. If tenants have Teams Video Clips enabled, they will automatically see the recording limit increase.

The recent update to Microsoft Teams, which increases the video clips recording limit from 1 minute to a generous 5 minutes, is set to bring a wave of positivity for both admins and users alike. This change allows users to share more comprehensive asynchronous video messages, which can enhance communication and collaboration within teams.
For users, this means more time to convey their thoughts, ideas, and instructions without the pressure of a ticking clock. Imagine being able to explain a project update or share feedback in a more detailed manner—it’s like going from a quick chat to a leisurely coffee break conversation! This added flexibility can lead to clearer communication and a greater sense of connection among team members, even when they’re miles apart.
Admins, on the other hand, will appreciate the simplicity of this rollout. With no action required on their part, they can sit back, relax, and watch as their users embrace this new capability. It’s a win-win situation, as they can focus on other strategic initiatives while their teams enjoy the newfound freedom of longer video messages.
In terms of impact, I foresee this change making a significant difference in how teams communicate. Longer video clips can lead to more thoughtful exchanges and reduce the back-and-forth emails that often clutter our inboxes. Plus, who doesn’t love a good video message? It adds a personal touch that text simply can’t match.
So, what do you think? Will you be utilizing the extended recording time for your Teams messages? I’d love to hear your thoughts and any creative ideas you have for making the most of this feature! Let’s get the conversation going—feel free to share your experiences or questions in the comments below. For more insights on Microsoft Teams updates, check out other posts on mwpro.co.uk!
