Coming soon for Microsoft Viva Engage: We will modernize email subscription management to deliver a more intuitive, user-friendly experience. Before this rollout, unsubscribe and notification links in in Viva Engage emails opened legacy web pages with limited functionality. After this rollout, those links will take users to refreshed pages where they can more easily manage their preferences. Users will be able to unsubscribe from or resubscribe to individual email types in a cleaner, more accessible workflow.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 489829.
[When this will happen:]
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-May 2025 and expect to complete by late May 2025.
[How this will affect your organization:]
After this rollout, no admin actions are required. Users will experience these changes:
- Users who select notification links in Viva Engage emails will be taken to the modernized notification settings page in Viva Engage for the web, instead of being taken to legacy pages.
- We will remove the legacy Unsubscribe from all option. Users must now subscribe or unsubscribe to individual notification types on the new settings page.
This rollout does not change the underlying email delivery or preference management functionality.
Users who have bookmarked old unsubscribe URLs should remove or update those links.
The Unsubscribe link in a Viva Engage notification email:
The new Unsubscribe screen in Viva Engage > Settings > Notifications:
The new Resubscribe screen in Viva Engage > Settings > Notifications:
This change will be on by default.
[What you need to do to prepare:]
- Review the new notification settings page in the Viva Engage web app.
- Update any internal documentation or user guidance to reference the new workflow.
- Communicate to your users that email preferences are now managed in the notification settings page.
- No additional administration or configuration is required. Links will automatically redirect after the rollout begins.

The upcoming update to Microsoft Viva Engage’s email subscription management promises to be a game-changer for both admins and users. As we step into this new era of streamlined communication, let’s take a closer look at what this means for everyone involved.
For users, the transition to a more intuitive and user-friendly experience is a breath of fresh air. Gone are the days of fumbling through legacy web pages that felt more like a maze than a navigation tool. Instead, users will now have direct access to a modernized notification settings page, allowing them to manage their email preferences with ease. This means you can finally unsubscribe from the notifications that have been cluttering your inbox without having to wade through a sea of options. And while the removal of the “Unsubscribe from all” option may seem daunting at first, it actually encourages a more tailored approach—users can now customize their email experience more effectively.
From an admin’s perspective, the good news is that no additional actions are required. The automatic redirection of links ensures a smooth transition, meaning less hassle and more focus on other important tasks. It’s a win-win situation! Additionally, admins can take this opportunity to update their internal documentation and communicate the changes to users, ensuring everyone is on the same page (pun intended).
Overall, the impact of these changes is likely to be significant. With a more streamlined process, users will likely feel more in control of their email preferences, leading to increased satisfaction and engagement with the Viva Engage platform. So, let’s embrace this modernized experience and make the most of it!
