We are announcing the ability to control how agents are shared in your tenant for Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature will reach general availability on May 14, 2025.
How does this affect me?
This feature allows administrators to control how broadly agents in your tenant are shared by setting sharing limits that can be configured for an individual managed environment, and as a rule that can be applied to environment groups.
Sharing controls:
- Allow or block makers from sharing their agents with individuals as Editors, who can edit, publish, share and chat with the bot.
- Allow or block makers from sharing their agents with individuals or security groups as Viewers, who can only chat with the bot.
- Block makers from sharing their agents with security groups.
- Limit the number of individuals that makers can share their agents with as Viewers.
What do I need to do to prepare?
This message is for awareness and no action is required.

The recent announcement regarding Microsoft Copilot Studio’s new sharing controls is quite the game changer for both administrators and users across the board! Set to roll out on May 14, 2025, this update will enable admins to finely tune how agents are shared within their tenant. So, what does this mean for you?
For admins, the new controls offer a greater level of governance and flexibility. You’ll have the power to dictate who can share agents, whether as Editors (those who can edit and publish) or Viewers (those who can only chat with the bot). This means a more secure environment, reducing the risk of unintentional sharing or confusion over agent capabilities. Plus, you can set limits on the number of individuals a maker can share their agents with. It’s like being the bouncer of a club, but instead of checking IDs, you’re ensuring only the right folks get access to the VIP section of your digital workspace.
For users, this update means a more tailored experience. With the new sharing limits in place, you can feel confident that interactions with agents are managed and purposeful. No more random bots popping up that you didn’t know you were supposed to interact with! It will streamline communication and likely enhance productivity, as users will have clearer guidelines on who they can collaborate with.
In terms of impact, these changes are significant. They enhance security, promote responsible sharing practices, and ultimately lead to a more organized environment. While some may find the new limits a bit restrictive initially, the long-term benefits will outweigh any minor inconveniences. After all, who doesn’t love a little order in their digital chaos?
So, what are your thoughts on these changes? Will they make your life easier or are you feeling a bit restricted? Share your opinions in the comments below! And don’t forget to check out more insights and discussions at mwpro.co.uk. Your voice matters!
