Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizers and presenters will be able to join town halls, webinars, and structured meetings seamlessly using a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) code. Organizers and co-organizers can share the dial-in codes to presenters from the event scheduling form. They can also call presenters from the roster as well. Once connected, presenters will automatically join the Waiting Room for attendees and then an organizer or co-organizer can promote presenters from the roster to the green room or the live session, to help ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop, Teams for Mac desktop, Teams for the web, and Teams for iOS/Android.

The recent update to Microsoft Teams introducing the ability for users to join town halls and webinars using Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) codes is set to make a significant impact on both admins and users alike.
For admins, this enhancement means less hassle in managing event access. The automatic rollout requires no action on their part, which is a welcome relief! They can breathe a little easier knowing that presenters can now join seamlessly using dial-in codes, streamlining the setup process. The added ability for organizers to share dial-in codes directly from the event scheduling form will also cut down on the back-and-forth typically involved in coordinating these events. It’s like having a personal assistant who never takes a coffee break!
On the user side, this update opens up new avenues for participation. With the option to join via PSTN codes, users who may have connectivity issues or those who are on the go can easily get involved in town halls and webinars. This flexibility not only enhances engagement but also ensures that attendance isn’t limited to those with the latest tech or the most robust internet connections. It’s a win-win!
As for the overall impact, I would say it’s quite substantial. This change will likely lead to increased participation rates and a smoother experience for everyone involved. It’s a step towards making virtual collaboration more inclusive and accessible, which is something we can all appreciate—especially when we think about those moments of awkward silence during a webinar where everyone is trying to figure out how to join!
I encourage everyone to share their thoughts on this update! How do you think it will affect your experience with Microsoft Teams? Are there any additional features you’d like to see? Let’s get the conversation going! For more insights, check out other posts on mwpro.co.uk.
