On May 12, 2025, makers editing classic agents will no longer have the option to have Copilot Studio generate a list of Suggested Topics from uploaded documents and web content.
How does this affect me?
The Suggested Topics feature will no longer be available. Makers can create these topics manually following the guidance detailed in the Create and edit topics article.
What do I need to do to prepare?
This message is for awareness and no action is required.
We encourage all makers to upgrade to Copilot Studio unified authoring.

The recent announcement regarding the retirement of the Suggested Topics feature for classic Power Virtual Agents is certainly a significant change for both admins and users. As of May 12, 2025, makers will need to adapt to the absence of automated topic generation from uploaded documents and web content. While this may initially seem daunting, it also presents an opportunity for creativity and customization.
For admins, this means a shift in focus from relying on automated suggestions to developing a more hands-on approach in creating topics. This could lead to a deeper understanding of the content and a more tailored experience for users. Embracing this change may even spark innovative ways to engage users, as admins will have the freedom to craft topics that truly resonate with their audience—think of it as moving from a pre-packaged meal to a gourmet dish!
For users, the impact will largely depend on how effectively admins adapt to these changes. While the Suggested Topics feature was a handy tool, the manual creation of topics can lead to more relevant and personalized interactions. It’s like trading in a GPS for a good old-fashioned map; it may take a bit more effort, but the journey could be much more rewarding!
In terms of impact, the changes may initially cause a ripple of adjustment, but over time, the potential for enhanced user experience and engagement can be significant. It’s all about perspective—some may see it as a hurdle, while others might view it as an exciting new path to explore.
I’d love to hear what others think about this update! How do you feel about the shift from automated suggestions to manual topic creation?
