We are announcing the ability to select from existing apps when using the plan designer in Power Apps. This feature will reach general availability on May 19, 2025.
How does this affect me?
The plan designer will suggest a set of solutions to solve your business problem based on the needs of your organization. The set of solutions that are suggested may already exist in your environment. Instead of creating a new app, you can now replace a suggestion with an existing app or add an existing app to the set of solutions directly in the plan designer.
What do I need to do to prepare?
This message is for awareness and no action is required.

The recent update regarding Power Apps is set to bring some exciting changes for both admins and users alike. With the introduction of the ability to select from existing apps when using the plan designer, we can expect a more streamlined and efficient approach to app development.
For admins, this enhancement means less time spent managing and overseeing the creation of new applications. Instead of starting from scratch, they can now leverage existing solutions, reducing redundancy and fostering a more organized app ecosystem. This not only saves valuable resources but also encourages collaboration among team members as they utilize and build upon each other’s work.
Users, on the other hand, will benefit from a more tailored experience. With the plan designer suggesting solutions that already exist within the organization, users can quickly find and implement the apps that best address their business needs. This empowerment fosters a sense of ownership and innovation among users, as they can easily adapt existing tools rather than being bogged down by the complexities of creating new ones.
In terms of impact, the changes are likely to be quite significant. The ability to integrate existing apps into the planning process will not only enhance productivity but also improve user satisfaction by providing immediate access to solutions that work. It’s like having a well-stocked toolbox—why reinvent the wheel when you can simply grab the right tool for the job?
As we look forward to the general availability of this feature on May 19, 2025, it’s a great time to reflect on how these updates can reshape our approach to app development. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts and experiences on this topic! Have you ever faced challenges in app creation that this update might alleviate? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
