Microsoft Teams: App ratings will be visible in context [MC1099693]

Message ID: MC1099693

Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: We will show app ratings to users in context where they engage with the apps in Teams. Our goal is to build user trust, improve app discoverability and adoption, and help users make more informed decisions without needing to leave Teams. This change will also encourage developers to maintain higher app quality standards, improving the overall Teams app ecosystem.

This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop and Teams for Mac desktop.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 483506.

[When this will happen:]

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early July 2025 and expect to complete by late July 2025.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-August 2025 and expect to complete by late August 2025.

[How this will affect your organization:]

After this rollout, here are some examples where users will find app ratings in context in Teams.

In a Teams chat (one-on-one or a group chat), ratings will display in two places:

  • When users select the plus sign (+) in a chat compose box and scroll down to Add a new app. Users will see new apps available for the specific chat, including apps with messaging capabilities:

  • When users select the icon (that has the hover text Open Agents and bots) in the top right of the screen and scroll down to Add agents and bots:

In a Teams meeting, ratings will display when users select the Apps button to open the Agents and apps panel:

This change will be on by default.

[What you need to do to prepare:]

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. Review your current configuration to assess the impact on your organization. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.
