Updated August 22, 2025: The ability to create shared Loop workspaces that are managed by Microsoft 365 Groups launched in April 2025 with Roadmap ID 472022. As a result, the work described below was canceled. For your reference, the ability for IT admins to enforce that an existing Microsoft 365 Group be used to govern all new Loop workspaces is still tracked by Roadmap ID 422725.
Work below has been canceled. See above.

When creating a new Loop workspace, users will be able to choose an existing Microsoft 365 Group to manage the workspace’s lifetime, governance, and compliance, similar to SharePoint Team sites.
[When this will happen:]
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late September 2025 (previously late June) and expect to complete by late October 2025 (previously late July).
[How this will affect your organization:]
Once available, when creating a new Loop workspace, users will be able to choose an existing Microsoft 365 Group to manage the workspace’s lifetime, governance, and compliance, similar to SharePoint Team sites.
[What you need to do to prepare:]
There is nothing you need to do to prepare. These changes will roll to your tenant automatically.
