AI_EXTRACT function (Preview)

Extract information from an input string or file with the new Snowflake Cortex AISQL function, AI_EXTRACT, now available in preview.

The AI_EXTRACT function enables extracting information from unstructured data sources, such as text, images, and documents, for example, financial and tax statements, contracts, invoices, medical reports, marketing materials, and regulatory or business records.

With AI_EXTRACT, you can:

• Simplify complex extraction tasks into a single operation that offers predictable pricing and reduced orchestration requirements.
• Process files directly from a stage, eliminating the need for data transfer, duplication, or infrastructure management.
• Define output schemas with the responseFormat argument.
