AlloyDB for PostgreSQL
Feature
AlloyDB offers enhanced backups (Preview) that integrate a cluster’s backup operations with the Google Cloud Backup and DR Service. This integration provides vaulted backups data with retention lock enforcement, and it uses the Backup and DR Service control plane for centralized policy management and advanced scheduling for AlloyDB clusters. For more information, see Manage enhanced backups.
Backup and DR
Feature
Announcing the Public Preview launch of AlloyDB for PostgreSQL enhanced backups with Backup and DR Service. This enables advanced data protection capabilities offered by Backup and DR Service including backup vault support, granular scheduling through backup plans, and centralized management.
Feature
A new backup vault setting, Prevent deletion for duration specified in backup rule, is now available. When enabled, this feature locks backups for the exact retention period defined in the associated backup plan, overriding the vault’s local minimum retention and preventing manual deletion.
Batch
Changed
Dynamic Workload Scheduler for Batch (Preview) has been replaced with the following consumption options:
- Flex-start VMs (Preview): We recommend Flex-start VMs if your job can withstand best-effort availability in exchange for discounted pricing and up to 7 days to finish running.
- Calendar-mode reservations (Preview): We recommend calendar-mode reservations if your job needs a very high level of assurance of resource availability for at least 1 day and up to 90 days.
Both consumption options use Dynamic Workload Scheduler pricing, which offers discounts of up to 53% off of on-demand pricing. For more information, see Create and run a job that uses GPUs.
Changed
Documentation has been updated to clarify the machine types that jobs can use.
BigQuery
Feature
The Apache Iceberg REST catalog in BigLake metastore is now generally available (GA) with several new features, including BigQuery catalog federation, credential vending, and catalog management in the Google Cloud console.
Cloud Billing
Feature
Anomaly Detection is generally available
View and manage cost spikes that deviate from your typical spend patterns using the Anomalies dashboard, which is generally available. Each anomaly includes a detailed root cause analysis that identifies the top services, regions, and SKUs that contributed to the spike.
With this launch, we’ve added the following features to Anomaly Detection:
- Auto-generated anomaly thresholds that update daily based on your usage patterns.
- Deviation percentage as a new threshold for you to configure for your anomalies.
- Email alerts automatically set up for Billing administrators to help you proactively manage your costs.

Compute Engine
Feature
Generally available: Dynamic NICs let you add or remove network interfaces to or from an instance without having to restart or recreate the instance.
You can also use Dynamic NICs when you need more network interfaces. The maximum number of vNICs for most machine types in Google Cloud is 10; however, you can configure up to 16 total interfaces by using Dynamic NICs.
For more information, see the following:

Announcement
Advanced reporting dashboards version 3.40
We’ve released version 3.40 of the advanced reporting dashboards.
Feature
New Agent Preference table in the Agent Availability dashboard
We’ve added a new Agent Preference table to the Agent Availability dashboard. This table can help you ensure that queues have properly skilled agents assigned to them. It can also help identify agents who improperly change their availability filters. For more information, see Agent availability dashboard.
Feature
New Audit Log dashboard
We’ve added a new Audit log dashboard to help you track changes to the configuration of your instance. The dashboard tracks changes to the settings on the Developer Settings page, and displays information such as the type of change, who made the change, and when. This dashboard is similar in format to the advanced reporting dashboards, but you can’t save it as a new dashboard. You access the Audit Log dashboard from the Settings menu. For more information, see Audit log dashboard.
Fixed
We addressed the following issues in this release:
- Fixed an issue where the queue groups dashboard failed to display data for users with a custom role assigned to a queue or queue group.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Agent Activity Timeline dashboard to display inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Fixed an issue on the Virtual Agent – Calls dashboard where the Virtual Agent Name and Queue filters didn’t display available values.
- Fixed an issue on the Dispositions – Chats dashboard that prevented the Agent Email, Agent ID, and Location filters from displaying available values.
- Fixed an issue on the Virtual Agent – Chats dashboard that prevented the Virtual Agent Name filter from displaying available values.
- Fixed an issue on the Virtual Agent – Chats dashboard where the Date filter was incorrectly labeled Time Range.
- Fixed an issue on the Abandons – Calls dashboard where Customer ANI values weren’t appearing in the Queue Abandon Details and IVR Abandon Details tables despite the customer signing the waiver.
- Fixed an issue on the Agent Activity Timeline dashboard where the Agent Name filter wasn’t working properly.

YARA-L functions
The following new YARA-L functions are now generally available:
- strings.ends_with: Takes two strings (value, suffix) and returns true if the suffix is non-empty and at end-of-value.
- strings.split: Splits string value using a delimiter argument (by default, a comma).
- window.range: Returns the range of the values input values found.
