Microsoft Dataverse – Discover, build, customize, and extend with management MCP server [MC1266693]

Message ID: MC1266693
We are announcing the ability to give developers and system integrators a central API-based foundation to discover and build custom management Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. This feature will reach general availability on April 30, 2026.

How does this affect me?
This feature enables you to use management MCP server, a build surface and registry for agent-ready tools available within your environment.

Key functionalities of this feature include:

Discover available tools and servers
  • Find MCP servers authored, hosted, or certified by Microsoft.
  • Query and explore over 1,470 connectors and their individual actions.
  • Discover custom APIs available in your organization or from partner teams.
Create and customize MCP servers
  • Build new MCP servers by selecting connector actions, APIs, and reusable tools.
  • Clone an existing MCP server, such as a Dataverse MCP, and tailor it by adding or removing tools to match your scenario.
  • Use MCP servers as modular, scenario-focused endpoints that can be reused across agents.
Endpoint driven developer experience
  • Accessible as a simple environment scoped URL—no UI required.
  • Use in Visual Studio Code, Claude, or any agent or tool that supports HTTP.
  • Compose, publish, and maintain MCP servers entirely through API calls.
Enterprise ready governance and control
  • Enforce data loss prevention (DLP) policies.
  • Apply access controls at both the MCP server and individual tool level.
What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness, and no action is required.
