Microsoft 365 (Office) apps: The Feed feature will retire starting November 1, 2024 [MC907532]

Message ID: MC907532

As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance user experiences, we will retire the Feed feature from the Microsoft 365 app, which affects www.microsoft365.com and www.office.com, as well as the Windows app (Microsoft 365 (Office).

The retirement will start November 1, 2024, and end by November 15, 2024. After the feature is retired, users will not be able to access the Feed feature on Microsoft 365 apps.

We are committed to ensuring that existing workflows remain unaffected. Launched in 2022, Feed was designed to help users explore the latest content and team activities. Over time, we have integrated the essential features of Feed into the more accessible Recommended files on the Home page of the Microsoft 365 app. We suggest using the Recommended section, which serves as a replacement to the Feed feature and is where we will continue to invest our development resources.

Microsoft 365 (Office) apps: The Feed feature will retire starting November 1, 2024

Hold onto your keyboards, folks! Microsoft is shaking things up again, and this time, it’s the Feed feature that’s getting the boot. Starting November 1, 2024, the Feed feature will begin its graceful exit from Microsoft 365 apps, with the process wrapping up by November 15, 2024. So, what does this mean for admins and users? Let’s dive in!

First off, let’s pour one out for the Feed feature. Launched in 2022, Feed was like that well-meaning friend who always tried to keep you in the loop with the latest content and team activities. But as with all things tech, evolution is inevitable. Microsoft has decided to streamline our user experience by integrating the best bits of Feed into the more accessible “Recommended” files on the Home page of the Microsoft 365 app. Think of it as Feed’s cooler, more efficient cousin who’s taking over the family business.

For admins, the good news is that this change will happen automatically. That’s right—no late-night troubleshooting sessions or frantic email chains required. You can sit back, relax, and maybe even take a coffee break while Microsoft handles the transition. The essential features of Feed have already been woven into the “Recommended” section, so your users won’t miss a beat. It’s like swapping out an old pair of sneakers for a new, more comfortable pair that still gets you where you need to go.

Users, on the other hand, might experience a brief moment of nostalgia. But fear not! The “Recommended” section is here to save the day. It’s designed to be your new go-to spot for all the latest and greatest content, making it easier than ever to stay on top of your game. Plus, Microsoft is committed to investing development resources into this feature, so you can expect it to get even better over time.

So, what do you think about this change? Are you ready to embrace the “Recommended” section with open arms, or will you miss the Feed feature like an old friend? Share your thoughts in the comments below—we’d love to hear from you!

In summary, while saying goodbye to the Feed feature might tug at our heartstrings a bit, the transition to the “Recommended” section promises a smoother, more efficient experience for everyone. Admins can rest easy knowing there’s no extra work on their plate, and users can look forward to a more streamlined way to access the content they need. It’s a win-win situation, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
