We are announcing the ability to deploy custom-built agents to SharePoint. This feature will reach general availability on May 20, 2025.
How does this affect me?
This feature enables users to bring custom agents into your SharePoint sites to help your team stay productive where they collaborate. Agents can answer questions, retrieve information, and take action in the context of shared documents, plans, or project spaces. This reduces time spent switching tools and accelerates task completion.
By default, the SharePoint channel will follow the Authenticate with Microsoft setting, ensuring that your data remains safe and secure. The SharePoint channel will be integrated into the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) process. It can be enabled or disabled through DLP settings and will comply with all existing DLP guidelines.
What action do I need to take?
This message is for awareness and no action is required.

The recent announcement about Microsoft Copilot Studio allowing the deployment of custom agents to SharePoint is an exciting development that promises to enhance productivity for both admins and users alike. Scheduled for general availability on May 20, 2025, this feature could be a game-changer in how teams collaborate.
For admins, the introduction of custom agents means more control and flexibility in managing SharePoint environments. With the ability to tailor agents to specific needs, admins can ensure that teams have the right tools at their fingertips, streamlining workflows and reducing the time spent on mundane tasks. Plus, the integration into Data Loss Prevention (DLP) processes offers an added layer of security, allowing admins to maintain compliance without breaking a sweat.
Users, on the other hand, will likely find their experience transformed. Imagine having a virtual assistant that can answer questions, retrieve information, and take action right within your SharePoint site! This reduces the need to juggle multiple tools and allows users to focus on what truly matters—getting their work done efficiently. Who wouldn’t want to spend less time clicking around and more time being productive? It’s like having a personal assistant who never takes a coffee break!
The impact of these changes could be significant. By fostering a more integrated and responsive work environment, teams can collaborate more effectively, leading to faster project completions and improved overall satisfaction. It’s a win-win situation!
