Hold onto your keyboards, folks! Microsoft is rolling out a nifty new feature for the Outlook desktop app that’s bound to make life a whole lot easier for users of the Windows Narrator screen reader tool. Starting in early November 2024, emails will be automatically read aloud when you open them. Yes, you read that right – no more squinting at the screen or struggling to navigate through text. Just hit “Enter” to open an email, sit back, and let Narrator do the heavy lifting.

Now, let’s break this down a bit. Before this update, users of Windows Narrator had to manually navigate through their emails to have them read aloud. It was like trying to read a book with your eyes closed – not exactly a walk in the park. But with this new feature, the moment you open an email, Narrator will start reading it out loud. It’s like having your very own personal assistant who never gets tired or asks for a raise.

For admins, this update is a breeze. The feature will roll out automatically, so there’s no need to dive into the settings or perform any tech wizardry. However, it might be a good idea to give your users a heads-up about this change. A quick email or a note in your internal documentation should do the trick. After all, nobody likes surprises – unless it’s a surprise pizza party, of course.

Users, on the other hand, will find this feature to be a game-changer. Imagine being able to multitask like a pro – you can listen to your emails while grabbing a coffee, taking a walk, or even while pretending to pay attention in a meeting (we won’t tell). It’s all about making your digital life a little bit easier and a lot more accessible.

So, what do you think about this new feature? Are you excited to give it a try, or do you have any concerns? Share your thoughts in the comments below – we’d love to hear from you! And remember, the future of email reading is almost here, and it sounds pretty darn good.
